We need to review what we are doing and how we fund the arts, however, we should not disregard the foundation set by John Maynard Keynes through the Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust (thetrust.org.au)
The current public Arts funding system isn't robust enough to weather the slings and arrows of our current changing society for all, however, together we have an opportunity to develop a path forward, and maybe we should look to The Trust of old for a few of the answers and not just hold our hands out to our Government to lead us.

Public funding for the arts was not originally intended to be a permanent arrangement. But some economic fundamentals mean that it's necessary.
